My students are a diverse group of wonderful 13 and 14 year olds in the eighth grade at our fantastic middle school. They enjoy reading, especially fantasy and sports novels, they are focused during quiet writing time, and they are silly any chance they get. They are approaching the finish line of their middle school careers and are hungry to be seen as adults, but still happy to rely on the old-standby of, "but I'm just a kid."
