In first grade, many students are learning to read for the very first time. So many of my students come to me with very little reading ability. Throughout the year we practice specific phonics skills over and over in order to gain reading mastery. I would like to provide my students with fun and engaging activities that can help them in this journey. These games will give my students a chance to deepen their learning experience by increasing their stamina and perseverance in the face of a challenging skill. After I introduce a skill, my students complete activities to practice the skills. These games and activities will give my students an opportunity to practice the skills we are learning in a fun and engaging way, rather than repeated activities or pencil/paper worksheets. Students will also learn valuable social skills as they play and learn together with their classmates. Learning through play cultivates a fun, engaging learning environment where students feel safe to take risks in their learning. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention, focus, and enjoyment but you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Students will be engaged in their learning, leading to greater perseverance and stamina. Reading is the foundation of every subject area! Help me to make reading fun for my students, and together we will create lifelong learners who love to read!
