Communication, imagination, and teamwork come alive with simple pieces of wood. Keva Planks are wooden planks that can be used to design a variety of structures by simply stacking them on top of each other (no glue required). Students will communicate and work as a team to create anything their mind can imagine! Albert Einstein explained, "Play is the highest form of research." Even though these may look like another toy, designing with Keva Planks will allow students to build an understanding of force, balance, equality, and geometry while essentially playing. Children love to create! Something a lot of students, especially girls, don't realize is the importance of creativity in STEM-related fields. As we use the Keva Planks in our classroom it will encourage creativity for all students. This will be a gateway for students to see how their creativity can be used to help others in STEM-related careers. These Keva Planks are sturdy and will last many years, reaching more than my current 24 students. As students use Keva Planks in our classroom, the possibilities will be endless!
