My students are from lower income families. Even so, they want to experience the excitement that comes from seeing new titles about subjects they're interested in. Many students have asked about replacement books for certain titles. They like to read and can't wait until they finally have a turn to check out a favorite book. Extra books for specific titles will help make that happen. Since our school library has an open concept, it thrills students when they see fresh, full color book spines as they pass by while walking to other classes. Those initial reactions help promote the library as vibrant place that has books that kids want to read. When they return for their library time, they're more likely to check out those appealing titles. My students are ready for new reading challenges!
