For the last couple of school years I have implemented "open library" days. On these special days the students are allowed to use the various manipulatives and materials I have in the library to create, build and explore. These materials have been used for a couple of years and have become redundant. The time the students spent working together to create and build was their favorite time. I noticed while working together they were talking and discussing what they were building or making. I also noticed that their behavior was more focused and there will little or no behavior issues. Each of the items I am asking for will be used to enhance our maker space. My 3rd and 4th graders will enjoy using the Keva planks to make mazes and to build structures. The lower grades will use the magna-tiles and snow-flake blocks to work on their fine motor skills.
