Books not so galore! Being a Title One school many of my students live in poverty and can't afford books, therefore don't have the opportunity to fall in love with reading. There are many cultural, social, and economic differences amongst our students, but they all work together. Our school is the one of the largest schools in Collier County. Our staff works incredibly hard to make connections with every student that walks in our doors. This year the school was challenged to read a million minutes for the principal to sleep on the roof! Well, ladies and gentleman that challenge became reality. This past week the principal slept on the roof to celebrate the million minutes. Next year students will be challenged to two million minutes, therefore more resources need to be available for students to read to keep interest.
