My students are 3rd graders, 8 year olds, that live in Denver, Colorado. Many of the students come from Spanish or Vietnamese speaking homes in a very diverse neighborhood. All of my students speak English, and I teach in English, however, they are considered "English Language Learners" because English is their second language. They are a bright bunch of boys and girls who have a genuine thirst for learning. Unfortunately, most students come from homes that are at poverty level and 98% of them receive breakfast and lunch at school. Most families are excited and eager to help their children learn, however, money is a struggle so few are able to pay for supplies. I am preparing for the start of the school year, and want to be sure that their classroom is a place where they find nothing but success
