I get to work with the coolest kids on the planet at my Title I school (over 90% are on free or reduced lunch.) My diverse 7th and 8th graders bring their own gifts and talents to the classroom. They are artsy & unique & beautiful souls who inspire me daily. They are intellectuals and athletes and gamers and coders. They are future doctors, engineers, and musicians. They are eclectic adolescents who are bursting at the seams with inquiry & emotion. Are they funny? Ha! Their sense of humor that can induce giggling fits or make you tilt your head in bemusement. Teaching ELA and facilitating Peer Counseling in an old science lab has its challenges. I am seeking donations to provide flexible seating options so they can grow in an environment that is conducive to all learners, including my ADHD, ASD, Sensory Processing disorders, ODD, and 2E Gifted students. Please help make my vision of the ideal classroom a reality.
