My students attend one of the oldest school districts in the state shared between two municipalities. Although both cities within the district are suburbs, the proximity to the city gives our district many of the characteristics of an urban district. At the early childhood center, 44% of the students participate in the free and reduced school meal program, indicating that their families overall income falls below the poverty level. Given these demographics, I know students need to be provided a variety of creative experiences to mold well-rounded students. Both our social and economic make-up of students is what gives us our unique character. Students here are warm, empathetic, grateful, and prideful. They are an amazing group of kiddos who deserve the best.
