Our school serves students in grades 6-12 from every neighborhood in the county. We are a school that receives Title I funding, and approximately 40% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. In addition to their geographic and socioeconomic diversity, our students have a wide variety of artistic interests and talents, including chorus, theatre, band, creative writing, and computer game design. Our science department offers a variety of courses, including life, physical, and environmental sciences. Additionally, we offer AP Science courses and an Honors Independent Study program, in collaboration with the Duke Molecular Physiology Institute. We aim to challenge our students academically and socially, by making our classes collaborative and laboratory-based. Our commitment to critical thinking and hands-on labs makes us a successful and hard-working department.
