Last school year the students in my coding club were able to learn the basics of computer coding with Ozobot robots. Ozobots are coded by drawing lines and specific color codes on paper, directly on a computer with the website OzoBlockly, or on an iPad with the Ozobot app. The library was given two Ozobots and coding club students visited once a week to learn how to code the Ozobots with markers and paper, and later OzoBlockly on the computer. They loved it! My students need more Ozobots in order to teach their classmates about basic coding, so everyone can share in the learning and fun. With eight more Ozobots, I (along with my coding club students!) will be able to teach library classes the beginnings of computer coding. A knowledge of basic computer coding will open my students up to a world of opportunities when they graduate and move onto another school at the end of 6th grade, and beyond, when they graduate high school. With their multitude of coding capabilities, Ozobots are versatile and can be enjoyed over and over again. And with their marker coding capabilities, they put the A in STEAM!
