I am a speech teacher at a specialized high school for students with disabilities in a high poverty area of New York City. My students are between the ages of 14 and 21 and all have forms of moderate to severe disabilities, including autism as well as emotional, physical, and intellectual disabilities. We strive everyday to create an environment in which our students can access their education and can enjoy the process of learning. My students are so hard working and have faced so much adversity. They deserve the best!
