My school is located very close to a US military base. As a result, when students come to my music class, they bring with them a broad range of experiences. Many have traveled to distant countries due to a member of their family being in the military. Our student population is very diverse, so even those who have not traveled internationally learn from their peers of different cultures on a daily basis. I believe one of the best ways to promote peace in our world is through education. By experiencing the music of other cultures, students open the door to a broader understanding of and appreciation for diversity--and for each other. The instruments provided by your donations will help my students learn about and celebrate the diversity in our school, community, and nation through the international language of music.
