For many of us growing up, sitting in a chair, or even sitting on the carpet, was known to be the way to learn. However, many students cannot learn well in that way. Students need different ways to learn in the classroom, and not just with materials. The way students sit, the way they face the classroom, the way they position themselves towards the board or their partner makes a huge difference and flexible seating will help them. For some of my students who need to bounce a little while talking, sitting on a bouncy ball can help them immensely. As a first year teacher, trying to find different ways to help my students learn best is extremely important. Thank you!
