My students are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. They learn through sign language and some spoken English. The picture at the left is the sign for " wow!" Their entire education depends on the visual world. They are kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade and 3rd grade students. They attend a public school with other hearing students. They are in 1 of 4 classes on campus of Deaf students between preschool age and 8th grade. Their socio-economic backgrounds as well as ethnic backgrounds vary. Some of the students have lots of technology in their homes and others do not. We do not currently have a computer so the students can access the internet. They are in my classroom for all subjects (except if they are working at grade level and can go into a general education class with a sign language interpreter) and follow the same curriculum as the other students on campus.
