Each item on the list has a purpose and a place in the classroom. The new, tall table serves as a work space that gives students the option to stand while working and collaborating. The stools and clipboards will be used for minilessons, when we move close together in the back of the classroom. The stools will also be an alternative seat option for students. Each teacher in the English department at this school has a classroom library. As the collection of books grows, it is difficult to find space to store these books. The cube organizers will serve as a space for these new books coming in. Finally, 20 minutes of classtime is dedicated to reading, and it is imortant for the students to have a comfortable space to read. The bean bag chairs, cushions, and cozy rug will all serve as inviting environment to encourage the students to read more. Furthermore, it has been found that certain lighting can be irritating to middle school students, the curtain Christmas lights and lamp will serve as a less harsh and more relaxing lighting option for the classroom. Lastly, the chalkboard wall sticker, chalk pens, and paper organzier will be utilized by the students to express their thoughts on their books. Students will be able to use the chalkboard as a public option, while the organizer will provide a more private response to their books, writing, and classroom experiences.
