The school I teach at is located in West Harlem. It provides public education to Kindergartners to eighth graders. There are approximately 900 students within this building. My school is a Title 1 school, which means most of the students come from low-income families and receive reduced/free lunch. Three out of my twenty three students live in the projects in West Harlem, New York. Despite the fact that poverty discourages these students with lacking learning resources, they are very excited to come to school every morning, and to have me as their teacher again (I looped with the same class from last year). One of the students have told me that his brain felt like a rusty old car during the summer from not doing academic work, but now that he's with me, he feels like his brain is working as fast as a sports car.
