I am a first year teacher with a limited budget. I have a classroom of twenty five 3rd grade English Learners. They are compassionate and respectful students who deserve to have all the resources possible and available for them. My students come from various backgrounds and a large majority of them come from low income households. My entire school receives free and reduced lunch. This does not hold them back from wanting to learn. Having a selection of books available to them at all times makes it easier to create an environment where reading is fun and reading is encouraged. As a first year teacher, my classroom library is currently nonexistent. Having essential classroom supplies allows them to learn without any "bumps in the road." Many teachers have had years to build up their classroom with supplies and resources that when it's your first year, it's hard to feel like your students have the same resources.
