Special students have special needs.
In my classroom, we use laptops to access many educational websites and resources.
Often times we are not able to use technology effectively because the laptops we have currently are 3-5 years old and have endured a considerable amount of wear and tear.
These 5 new laptops would allow me to create a technology center that is fast and up to date. Having constant access to these computers and using them exclusively in my classroom would also allow for me to monitor the use and care of the machines so that we get the maximum life out of them.
We use laptops to administer diagnostic assessments, to enhance instruction, to provide enrichment for students working above grade level, and to utilize programs that will allow struggling learners to work on skills they are deficient in.
Having laptops in the classroom that are new and faster will also help give reliable computer access to students who lack the necessary technology at home in order to work on homework and utilize programs that provide online remediation and enrichment.
