Since today’s society is dominated by technology, I would like to give my students the opportunity to enhance their learning experience and their school lives by using some of today’s common devices that they would otherwise not be exposed to. Kindles in the classroom will help children visualize how words on a page can come alive in a fluid and expressive way. This device will instill the essential skills and ultimately the love of reading within them. Kindles offer the ability to utilize apps such as, Raz-Kids, iStoryBooks, SpellingCity, StarFall, and Reading Rainbow which empower students to build upon their sight vocabulary while simultaneously improving their listening skills. Therefore, my students can be exposed to a variety of story structures that will facilitate improving their reading comprehension in real time. For those who cannot read nor comprehend, new vocabulary and good interpretation can be learned at their individual pace. Just listening to audio books on the Kindle Fire can teach fundamental reading skills.
