The children that I encounter on a day-to-day basis are faced with insurmountable obstacles. Most are struggling financially, over-coming language barriers or coping with learning disabilities, among other things. They come to school stressed and frustrated with their environment. My children come to me when they need an outlet for their frustration. Often, they have trouble expressing themselves which only adds to their aggravation and many struggle to find an appropriate way to deal with their feelings. Supplying them with Sports supplies for our after school program would give them a way to escape from their lives and build self-esteem.
