My students work together in reader and writer's workshops. These workshops require a large rug for seating. The rug is a great place to collaborate. It also gives them an alternative to sitting in a desk all day, promoting movement, and helping students to refocus. This reading rug will give my students a change of pace and scenery. It allows students to refocus, and for me to connect with my students on a deeper level. The reading rug is also a great place to students to brainstorm for writing projects. Through the workshops, students are able to develop skills needed to enhance literary understanding, and to become better writers. Also, through peer to peer engagement, as well as more time one on one time with me, my students will be able to blossom.
