My students are so eager to learn and though few of them wanted to pick up a book when they first came into my class, so many of them now are learning that they love to read. They are learning that books can be exciting and that they can invite them into a whole new world. For some of my students, the books they read are a way of escaping the life they live everyday. Our school is a high poverty school, and while our meager school funds allow for a few book purchases each year, we so desperately need to provide a more current selection of books.
