Charles Barrett Elementary is a low socio-economic urban school located in one of the smallest and poorest communities in Los Angeles, California. It services the needs of socially economical disadvantage students from grades K-5. I teach a group of wonderful Kindergarten students. Their eyes light up and smiles beam across the room when they learn something new. I do have students who struggle in learning many of the standards that are required for reading. I'm new to the school and grade level, therefore the classroom was empty when I walked into it. I would like to have 5 tablet computers to assist my struggling students during small group instruction. With the tablets and educational applications, my students will receive the extra reinforcements of the skills needed to read.
