Our students come from diverse backgrounds. Because of this, we are a Title I school in our state. We are about 80% free/reduced lunches. These students deal with real-world issues frequently, like hunger, abuse, and neglect. Quite a few of the students have nobody at home to guide them or teach them right from wrong. They have nobody to teach them how to respect others. There is nobody at home to model for them and teach them positivity, encouragement, and belief in themselves. These kids come to school with the desire to learn, even with the issues they are forced to deal with outside of school. Our school is a positive school, where all the teachers work together to find solutions to their problems, especially staying in close contact with our counselor and social worker we have available at the school. We provide a safe environment for our students so they will have a chance to learn.
