One hour CODE is a movement promoted by Code.org®, a non-profit dedicated to expanding access to computer science, and increasing participation by women and underrepresented minorities. The Code vision is that every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn computer science, just like biology, chemistry or algebra. As a former college professor in that area, I understand the importance of this movement, and how this 21st century education approach at early ages will enhance the learners' critical thinking and problem solving skills. Technology careers are predicted to flood this 21st century job market and this generation of students must be prepared for the challenge. I am looking forward to fully integrating Computer Science Education as a regular subject in my classroom. The ideal setting will be for every child to have his own computer to work. These 10 Chromebooks will be a good starting point. The availability of computers in the classroom will increase accesibility to technology and proficiency in S.T.E.A.M. subjects, allowing the students to develop the skills necessary to be proficient and academically well-rounded.
