Every student deserves the chance to be successful at school. For the students in my class, being successful has come with many challenges. The devasting effects of Hurricane Florence significantly impacted our school district. Not only did we have students lose their homes, but our school was also damaged. We were out of school for several weeks and as a result, we are now focused on a rigorous curriculum in a shorter amount of time. As a beginning teacher in this hard-hit area, I find it hard to ask families who continue to be financially strapped for school supplies and classroom necessities. Your donations will help fill in the gaps we have for basic school supplies as well as support our classroom to run efficiently. My students will get a boost in their self-esteem knowing they have their very own school supplies. It will also help me, as a beginning teacher, incorporate necessary tools for everyday use. We are in need of the most basic school supply items to replace those lost in the hurricane. They include pencils, scissors, dry erase pockets, crayons, markers, staples, staples and stapler, tape and dispenser, and file folders. We also need Clorox wipes to make sure our space is clean and germ free. Thank you for your continued support of our school during this difficult but rewarding time.
