Many of my students come to school for the very first time lacking even the basic building blocks on which a strong reading foundation is layed. Having access to and using an Apple iPad would not only expose them to 21st century technology that they would not get at home, but also engage them in social and academic vocabulary activities necessary to help fill in gaps and help to catch them up in multiple areas of reading development. Various vocabulary and phonics apps would be utilized to bring reading to life and promote the love of reading in these students like never experienced before!
