The items I have requested for donation such as the colored pencils, markers, pencil sharpeners, and table organizers will help my students, and myself every single day. Having a small rug for small group instruction on a tile floor will make them more comfortable, and ready to learn. I want them to walk in the door every morning, and have the opportunity to know that they have a place where they can be creative, and prepared for the day. I want my students to feel they have an equal opportunity to be successful in the classroom; if many children do not have supplies, that feeling can be difficult or even impossible. My students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not be worried about what items they will do the activity with. Being a first year teacher, as much as I want to provide ALL of this on my own, I simply can't.
