The students in my community have gone through a lot in the last couple of years. We lost a number of community and family members due to a number of reasons that young children should never have to think about. My approach to teaching music this year is to develop and support their social and emotional learning skills, self-regulatory skills, and their emotional and mental health. Help me give my students self-regulatory tools. My goal for this project is to use these sensory stickers, mental health posters, small toys, breathing balls, and xylophones in my music classroom to help teach self-regulatory and mental health skills to my students. I will use these specific items in response to this approach and use the subject of music teaching to help develop grit and healthy daily functioning in these kids. I am a small part of what we can do to help our community and children, but I want to give my best effort!
