I teach 200 students at Hart MS School in Washington, D.C. My students are gifted, young people who are extremely motivated to learn new things. They are especially fond of our new STEM Program called Project Lead the Way, in which they will be coding for gaming and building/programming Vex Robots. Each day they come to school, they are eager to learn and engage in project-based learning. They enjoy using the critical thinking skills that we practice daily. They access prior knowledge from each other using a series of question STEMS and higher-order thinking cues during class discussions. I teach students who are in 6th thru 8th grade and I meet with each class for about 60 minutes each week. In that time we do multiple activities that involve the engineering design process model. I'm so inspired by my students and would like to see them become life-long learners. I'm also the 8th-grade Physical Science Teacher.
