The rolling cart will help me provide visual and written support to the oral directions I give in Spanish by supporting the technology that I use to project my power points. It is important that this cart be mobile so that I can move it out of the way when we do interactive activities that require us to stand up and move around. It is also important that the cart be short enough that, when it is in the middle of the classroom, students can still see over it to students that are sharing out on the other side. The materials I have requested will allow me to use technology with my students in an intentional way that supports interaction and engagement. At our school, language teachers have started using plastic shoe holders to store students' cell phones on the walls. This allows students to free themselves from the temptation of checking their phones and allows them to be fully focused on speaking with and listening to their classmates in Spanish. It allows for more intimacy and connection, which promotes language learning in a socially supportive environment.
