Students will begin coding in Kindergarten now and as their First Grade teacher I want to be able to help foster a generation of computer science-savvy students. After attending professional developments over the summer and much research, I would like to see these materials available in my classroom to let my students get the hands on experience and learning they need. With the iPads, students can not only do research and use apps for learning, but they can also begin coding with the Osmo accessories! These materials will be used every day by my First Graders to not only code, but work on numbers, letters, and words. These will be great learning tools for my classroom. Computer science should to be a fundamental part of every child's education. Allowing computer science to be offered in my classroom means every child gets a chance to learn, regardless of whether they have a computer at home. Bringing coding into my classroom can equalize access to and in interest in coding! With your help, we will be in the early stages of becoming great coders for the future! My Firsties and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
