I service a diverse population. I used a range of interdisciplinary and moral based approaches to build rapport. Many children with behavior and academic deficiencies gravitate to music and drama. It has been my philosophy that if you can read and talk then you can sing and act. I unload characterization and vocalization learning models to build talent from the ground up. Kids feel supported, motivated, and encouraged to reach their dreams. However, their dreams for singing and acting on stage can be aligned with recording arts approaches. The purpose of recording arts within a performance art construct is to allow kids to understand the BIG picture, reinforce spacial awareness, and stage presence. The school is approximately 3 years old, it is my first year working their, and I have already written a school song, constructed a choir and have begun working on the broadway musical Annie.
