Every year, my classroom is filled with eager young learners. For many of them, this is their first school experience. My classroom theme is Kings and Queens of Kindergarten, based on the book The King of Kindergarten by Derrick Barnes. Every day, we celebrate our status as kings and queens. This means that we are deserving of greatness, just like kings and queens. And we must compose ourselves like kings and queens. We also affirm ourselves, every day, by reciting the poem I Am a Great Somebody by Adrienne Sealy Hardesty. Check it out! We are child heroes and Great Somebodies! Thank you for believing in us!
