The ten Kindle Fire Kid's Edition tablets and headphones will be used extensively in our Media Center during class time and as listening centers during the rest of the school day by our entire school. The more words children hear, the better readers they will become. Listening to reading increases their vocabulary and will encourage our beginning readers and well as our struggling readers. Your generous donation will allow our students to access electronic books from many different sources to get them motivated and excited about reading. Right now we do have enough devices to access to these resources. Motivation to learn to read is hard when you don't have much practice. Amazon Free Time Unlimited (which comes free with the device) gives students access to over 13,000 books, educational apps and more. Just recently, NC Kids Digital Library became available for in our state, which gives students access to over 3,700 electronic books for free. Becoming better readers will allow our students to be able to read to learn for the rest of their lives!
