My wonderful students typically form a diverse classroom; ethnically, academically, and interest-wise. Take last year's class for example: one boy read every book he could get his hands on about science, while his tablemate loved any book about baseball. Meanwhile, two BFF's were at the next table collecting animal books. My goal is to help ALL my students pursue their individual passions through encouraging a love of reading. I always tell them the way to improve their reading is to READ! My goal is to provide lots of opportunities to read in my classroom with both time and interesting diverse materials; alongside explicit instruction in the skills of effective reading.
