Over 90% of my students are black or Latin. Over 80% are not currently English Language proficient. Over 90% of my students come from low-income households. Over 80% are recent immigrants. My school district is greatly underfunded due to situations over which the teachers and students have no control. It's awful to watch my students suffer because of political motivations and deep divides in the school community. Children shouldn't have to suffer this way in schools that lack funding.
