In seating with chairs and tables that are developmentally appropriate and meet physical needs, children with use energy to focus on activities and tasks at hand versus swinging feet from higher table and chairs. Children will be able to build independence in seating and moving from table to table using visual discrimination with colored tables and chairs. In using tables and chairs that meet physical needs, children will build independence in completing tasks, therefore, building on individual needs. I have found that when children are focused on seating comfortably their attention is no longer on completing activities rather than on remaining on seat safely.
