My students will use these magazines weekly to learn about non-fiction text structures and current events. I want to encourage my reluctant readers to read other mediums like magazines to help them become better readers. The habits my students create now will stick with them for years to come, and I hope to create a classroom full of well-informed and active citizens. Teaching at a charter school has many advantages, but there is also the disadvantage of curriculum money. I’m hoping to use this Donors Choose project to enhance my curriculum in a way I could not do on my own.
