As the school nurse at Boston Day & Evening Academy, I have the privilege of supporting incredible young people who are navigating unique challenges and triumphs every day. Our students are resilient, creative, and full of potential. Many of them come to the health office seeking not only medical care, but also a calm space to rest, regroup, and feel safe. My goal is to create a sensory-friendly wellness environment that honors neurodiversity and supports students’ mental health. By transforming this space, I hope to give every student—whether they’re managing stress, trauma, or sensory sensitivities—a place where they feel seen, supported, and empowered to care for themselves.
