School counselors enhance student's academic, social/emotional, and career development. With the use of the books listed, students will be able to hear and read about various stories and situations covering a variety of topics such as mindfulness, anger, sadness, self-esteem, and anxiety. Many of my students have problems in each of those areas. Creating lessons that center around each of those books will help build a comprehensive counseling program that develops successful citizens. When you are frustrated, wouldn't you like to escape to a place that is nice and cozy? The current counseling suite has no cozy furniture. A couch would allow the students to get relaxed and open up in a comfortable and warm setting. The cozy bean bag area will be used for students to release stress and practice their mindfulness activity using the books and calm activities that we already have. My students have already shown a great interest in the small number of books that I have purchased. Getting more would bring them even more joy. They deserve it!
