Flexible Seating is a research-based classroom tool that is proven to boost student performance. Students are given the option to choose where they sit in their classroom each day. The power of choice directly affects a student's mood and motivation for that particular day. They can be a risk-taker to pick a different seat each day or be caring and let a friend use that seat for the day. They will perform to their highest potential. In my classroom, there are 13 boys and 7 girls, each with colorful personalities. I would love to provide them with the opportunity to learn in a flexible classroom. Wobble Stools are perfect for my students who have trouble sitting still for long periods of time. Exercise balls would be amazing for my students who need to burn just a little energy off so that they are able to focus. I truly believe that Flexible Seating in an elementary classroom can be the change that we need to reach our full potential.
