I set up my classroom with lots of planning and structure to educate students with special needs in grades 1-4. Typically, I case manage 18 students. My philosophy is to make school a place that kids feel safe and where they want to be. We have fun. We tell jokes. We are silly. My students challenge me to find out how they learn best. Then we work hard together to be the best learners and members of a community. Since we are a small school, resources and materials are scarce. Students in special education don't always have the tools available to them. I feel strongly about all students learning or having appropriate and effective accommodations or modifications in place to make learning easier.
