I teach a diverse and energetic group of students in grades 1-5 who participate in our special education program. My learners are creative, resilient, and full of potential, but they often face significant barriers to learning, ranging from sensory processing needs to the effects of early childhood trauma. For them, school is more than just academics—it is a place where they are learning how to navigate big emotions, build social connections, and find their focus. They work incredibly hard every day to overcome challenges that their peers might not face, and they deserve a classroom that meets them exactly where they are.
