Our school is a small, independent charter school located in East Oakland, California. Our school's mission and vision is deeply rooted in social justice values. We believe that it is extremely important for students to use their education to liberate themselves, their community and the world. Our school serves all low-income students of color. These students come from all different cultures and backgrounds. I have the privilege of teaching all freshmen. I am their adviser, English and Literacy teacher. I wake up excited to go to work each day because I get to work with some of the most brilliant, hard-working and beautiful students. They inspire me every day through their stories and knowledge. As their teacher, I am constantly learning new things from them.
