Our students are ethnically diverse (over 70 languages are spoken in the homes in our school district) and many are low-income. They all share a priority for education, which is why they choose to attend our nontraditional public high school: they want a smaller learning environment that puts the responsibility for learning on the student, and that encourages them to work independently on self-paced projects. Many do not have resources such as Internet access at home, so the burden is placed on the school system to provide technology equipment and access to close the 21st century skills gap. Many are interested in the fine and performing arts and pursue those interests through our music and art programs. Most graduate on time and enroll in college immediately.
