Our school is located in a rural area, and, thus, poverty is a very real concern for many of our students. However, the vast majority of them are not defined by that. Our school is routinely among the highest ranked in our area due to the dedication of the teachers and the drive and ambition of our students. I see that drive in them every single day. They often surprise me with their depth of knowledge on certain subjects, and I truly believe it's because we have created a culture of learning in our school district. As a teacher and librarian, my students challenge me everyday to do the best job I can, and teaching them has been a huge pleasure for me. I can't think of a more deserving group.
