Having accessibility to sensory items is an important need for students in a communication disorder classroom. They love to be hands-on with their learning and the sensory items in this project will allow them to play with play-doh, slime, and stand on liquid floor tiles to get them up and moving. Sensory items are perfect to help a student who is having a rough day to be able to go to the sensory side of our room and to be able to pick a sensory item up and use it and help them calm down without the need for other interventions. These toys are a great way to help our students develop their senses in a safe and natural environment utilizing playtime. Using these items assist in the development of motor skills, language development, and helps build nerve connections to the brain.
