In many ways, transitioning to a new classroom means starting fresh. As I enter my 5th year of teaching, I'm looking forward to taking all that I've learned and channeling it into my new role. In addition to serving as the Director of our school's Race, Policy, and Law Academy, I will be teaching 12th grade English, as well as a class on Community Organizing. I see my classroom as a home away from home for both my students and myself. For each year of my teaching career, my classroom has served as a nurturing space for students. I'm excited to create a classroom community that reflects my love for my students. Your donations will help me do this. In my class this year, students will analyze complex texts, engage in discussions, participate in community building circles, and complete a capstone research project on a topic of their choosing. Your donations will fund the supplies for these projects while also contributing to making my classroom a space in which students can thrive. Students will use the post-it notes, notecards, file folders, and writing utensils to support their research and textual analysis. The beanbag chair and bulletin board materials will help me to create a welcoming environment for student learning.
